Pattaya is a city in Thailand, internationally known resort, located in the province of Chonburi, on the coast of the Gulf of Siam, about 165 km southeast of the capital city of Thailand, Bangkok.

It was a small fishing village until the mid-1960s. It is the U.S. military stationed on the air base of U-Tapao, some 70 km further east, which share the bay with a pleasant beach in an arc 4 km long. They are the first to motivate the construction of bungalows and small restaurants. After the end of Vietnam war and military parties, burgeoning tourism develops, which from 1980 will experience a spectacular development. Russian tourists, Indian and Chinese arrive continuosly from the mid 1990’s.

Since the 1990s, municipal authorities seek to mitigate the prospect reputation of the city, to direct business to family tourism. The new middle class in Bangkok is particularly targeted since Pattaya is the resort closest to the capital.

Pattaya is now the number one resort in Thailand by the number of tourists attending. Although Pattaya beaches are polluted, mass tourism has been installed, primarily tourism-oriented entertainment industry and sex. The city of Pattaya is mainly composed of two parallel avenues (Beach Road and Second Road) linked by perpendicular streets (so called) in frenetic activity. Those wishing more calm head to Jomtien Pattaya district south of quieter and cleaner sea. The islands around Pattaya are also worth to visit, such as the island of Koh Larn which really famous for its reef and its water activities.

In Pattaya, you also can so many things except its famous beach. Here’s the lists :

• Beach Road can be compared to the Croisette in Cannes. Road dotted with shops, restaurants and shopping malls along the sea on more than 4 km, Beach Road stops to give way to Walking Street (pedestrian street).
• Walking Street comes alive not only from dusk until late at night, Walking Street is the top center of the nightlife of Pattaya, including many nightclubs (Lucifer, Tony’s Disco, Marine, etc. for the most free) of seafood restaurants and bars of all kinds (gogo bar, BJ bar, beer bar).
• The sport is not left behind in this great station: several golf courses and numerous pathways remarkably maintained at less than thirty minutes from downtown Pattaya exist, and that many gym, badminton, three bowling and to say several schools of Thai boxing.
• The Sanctuary of Truth is not a temple but, as its name suggests, a sanctuary located “so 12″ on Pattaya-Naklua Road in Pattaya. Under construction for more than 20 years, the work would last more than 10 years … An architecture entirely of wood about 100 meters high on all length and width made in styles Burmese, Cambodian, Indian and Thai. Nearby, visitors can enjoy a show of dressage dolphin.
• The Sirach Tiger Zoo is a zoo sponsor many performances, directed with tigers and crocodiles.
• Jomtien Park (better known as the Pattaya Park) is an amusement park, home to large water park, located at the foot of the tower Jomtien, many attractions are presented, the more perilous is the cable car where ‘down the tower hung with a simple sling.
• Alcazar, Tiffany’s are known cabaret located in Pattaya featuring transvestites, singers and dancers.
